1797 antique print, a copper plate engravings of Jerpoint Abbey, County Kilkenny, Ireland. Jerpoint Abbey is a 12th‑century Cistercian monastery near Thomastown, founded under the kings of Ossory and later dissolved under Henry VIII. Site probably began as a Benedictine monastery around 1160, founded by Domnall Mac Gilla Pátraic, king of Osraige (Ossory). The engraving is dated as printed by S Hooper in Holborn, London in 1792 , however this work was not actually published until 1797. Engraver is Medland. The engravings have an impressed area size of 8 by 6 inches with the engraving measuring 7 inches by 5 inches. The overall paper size is 12 1/2 by 9 inches. The engraving is in ok condition, there is age related foxing and toning mainly on the paper, please see pictures.
