- 1797 antique print, a copper plate engravings of St Francis Abbey, County Kilkenny, Ireland. St Francis Abbey in Kilkenny is a medieval Franciscan friary founded between 1231 and 1234 by Richard Marshal, 3rd Earl of Pembroke, and later closely linked with the Smithwick’s brewery site that grew up around its ruins. The engraving is dated as printed by S Hooper in Holborn, London in 1792 , however this work was not actually published until 1797. Engraver is Medland. The engravings have an impressed area size of 8 by 6 inches with the engraving measuring 7 inches by 5 inches. The overall paper size is 12 1/2 by 9 inches. The engraving is in ok condition, there is age related foxing and toning mainly on the paper, please see pictures.
