- 1797 antique print, a copper plate engravings of St Johns Abbey, County Kilkenny, Ireland. St John’s Abbey (more accurately St John’s Priory) in Kilkenny is a medieval Augustinian house founded in the early 13th century by William Marshal, later dissolved under Henry VIII. The engraving is dated as printed by S Hooper in Holborn, London in 1793 , however this work was not actually published until 1797. Engraver is Newton. The engravings have an impressed area size of 8 by 6 inches with the engraving measuring 7 inches by 5 inches. The overall paper size is 12 1/2 by 9 inches. The engraving is in ok condition, there is age related foxing and toning mainly on the paper, please see pictures.
