Antique print, hand coloured engraving from 1834. Titled, Polyplectron Chinguis. This print is Plate 6. In the 19th century, “Polyplectron chinguis” was frequently used in ornithological literature and art to describe peacock-pheasants, especially in scientific illustrations and taxonomic lists and is often associated with the Grey Peacock Pheasant. The print was published as part of the Naturalist Library by Sir William Jardine, published by W.H. Lizars, Edinburgh. The prints are approximately 10 by 17 cm’s ( 4 1/4 by 6 3/4 inches). The print is in very good condition, paper will show ageing, print is to edge of page, some perforations and creasing left edge, please see pictures.
