Antique print, hand coloured engraving from 1834. Titled, the Fork Tailed Cock, Galis Furcata. This print is Plate 10. The fox-tailed cock, refers to the male common pheasant, displays a striking, long brown tail resembling a fox’s. Its vibrant plumage aids in courtship displays. The print was published as part of the Naturalist Library by Sir William Jardine, published by W.H. Lizars, Edinburgh. The prints are approximately 10 by 17 cm’s ( 4 1/4 by 6 3/4 inches). The print is in very good condition, paper will show ageing, print is to edge of page, some perforations and creasing left edge, please see pictures.
