Antique print, hand coloured from 1833 after William Jardine. It is titled, Cercopithecus ruber, the Red Monkey. Cercopithecus ruber is a historical scientific name used for the red monkey or red guenon. In modern taxonomy, it is generally considered synonymous with the patas monkey (Erythrocebus patas). The print was published as part of the Naturalist Library by W.H. Lizars, Edinburgh. The prints are approximately 10 by 17 cm’s. The prints are in good condition, paper will show ageing and foxing, please see pictures.
